As the year winds down, here’s a list of upcoming events to close out the school year:
1. AAMP ONLY: Dine with AAMP’s Very Own Sefa!
Time: TODAY, 5/1 6-7:30 pm
Place: SCC 217
2. Life on Four Strings: A Documentary Screening
Time: TODAY, 5/1 7-9 pm
Place: SCC 240
Description: The AARC Arts Committee is excited to host a screening of Professor Tad Nakamura’s award winning documentary: Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings, a compelling portrait of an inspiring and inventive musician whose virtuoso skills on the ukulele have transformed all previous notions of the instrument’s potential. On the road from LA to NYC to Japan, the film captures the solitary life on tour: the exhilaration of performance, the wonder of newfound fame, and the loneliness of separation from home and family.
3. [Off-Campus] Rise Up! Une(art)hing Gender, an Art Exhibit
Time: Saturday, 5/3 5-7 pm
Place: Chinese American Museum, North LA

Arts program in Chinatown, L.A., as they present their artwork on topics of gender and sexuality at the Chinese American Museum (CAM) in Chinatown. Artistic mediums used include watercolors, pastels, photography, charcoal, and clay. This exhibit is sponsored through the Asian American Resource Center’s (AARC) Rise Up! Committee and the Mellon Elemental Arts Grant at Pomona College.

Transportation will be provided to the Chinese American Museum via Sagecoach from Pomona College. The Sagecoach will be leaving Claremont at 4pm from the Hahn building on Pomona’s campus. It will be leaving CAM at 7pm after the exhibit ends and will get back to Claremont by 8pm.
