Ryka Aoki comes to the Claremont Colleges!

Writing Workshop

When: THIS Saturday (March 24th) @ 3:00-5:00 PM

Ryka Aoki, a trans performance artist, poet, activist, and English professor, will be leading a writing workshop entitled: “Honey Badger Don’t Care: Writing Without Giving in to Perceptions or Expectations.” It will consist of a discussion followed by a work session to create pieces that defy one’s own perceived niches in Asian American, queer, and literary communities. Participants will be encouraged to read their pieces as part of the later performance. They will also be encouraged to have dinner with Ryka at Collins!

When:THIS Saturday (March 24th) @ 7:00 – 8:30 PM

Ryka Aoki’s performance will focus on FAMILY, SEXUAL FLUIDITY, COMING OUT, and the INTERFACE BETWEEN KINK and IDENTITY. She will be reading from her book, performing spoken word, and singing a few new songs.

After the show, there will be a Q&A and she will be available for a book signing!
